In Florida, many homes are built with concrete slab foundations, but not every slab is built the same way. Some homes use a monolithic slab, where the slab and footing are poured together. If the soil below the slab becomes loose, weak, eroded, washed out, or poorly supported, sections of the slab can settle. If the soil below the footings loses support, the perimeter foundation or load-bearing wall areas may settle. Those two conditions can look different, but they can also happen together.

Hollow tile by itself is often a flooring issue, but hollow tile combined with sloping floors, cracking, gaps, or signs of washout deserves a closer look.

If water is contributing to the problem, plumbing repair, leak detection, or drainage correction may be needed before slab or soil repairs are performed.
