September 15, 2012 — Jay Silver, President of Helicon, followed up on a promise to attend the Art after Dark reception event at The Art Lounge Gallery in Plant City and to purchase several pieces of art created by local artists. The selected artworks will be donated for auction at the Diamonds & Denim Gala sponsored by the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, to be held on September 27, 2012.

On Saturday, September 15th, Jay and members of his staff enjoyed light refreshments while browsing the gallery for art pieces that make a statement. The final selection included works from artists Beverly Farley, Leo “Punk” Watson, LouAnn Creel Watson, Kim Wells, and Robert Woods. Each selected piece showcased the unique talents of the community of artists who created them.

Leo “Punk” Watson’s beautifully nostalgic renditions of Plant City landmarks and Kim Wells’ late model Ford painted against a blue sky background, celebrate the charm of old Plant City. LouAnn Creel Watson’s, “Snowy Egret,” with its elegant and true-to-life plumage is a testament to her artistic gifts and to her love of the Florida’s wild birds. Beverly Farley’s mixed media painting, “Dancing Ladies,” inspired by a National Geographic documentary about India, and sculptor Robert Woods’, “Tradewinds,” a kinetic art mobile, both demonstrate the scope and diversity of artistic talent offered by The Art Lounge Gallery.

“The purpose of our visit to The Art Lounge Gallery was two-fold. We wanted to support the fundraising efforts of South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation in a singular way. In addition, we wanted to fulfill one of our company’s core values — the promise to give back to the community that has contributed to our success,” said Helicon President, Jay Silver.
