The prolonged plumbing leak caused localized soil saturation beneath the structure. Water infiltration can weaken soils by washing out fine particles and creating void spaces beneath a foundation slab.

Before contacting Helicon again, the property had experienced additional interior damage. A previous tenant accidentally caused a grease fire, forcing the homeowner to remove flooring materials throughout portions of the home.
Once the flooring was removed, it became clear that the slab had settled noticeably in two rooms of Unit B, particularly the bedroom and kitchen areas.
The homeowner also reported that the sliding glass door leading to the backyard no longer operated correctly, another common indicator of foundation movement.
The owner planned to install self-leveling mortar and new flooring, but doing so without stabilizing the foundation first would risk repeating the problem.

After a detailed site evaluation, Helicon recommended a two-phase polyurethane injection program designed to stabilize both the soil beneath the structure and the concrete slab itself.

To address the weakened soils beneath the structure, Helicon performed soil injections totaling 560 pounds across 22 injection points.
These injections targeted the soil beneath and around the affected areas of the foundation. As the polyurethane expanded underground, it filled void spaces and compressed loose soil layers, creating a reinforced soil matrix capable of supporting the structure.
Inside the home, technicians performed 99 pounds of polyurethane slab injections beneath the affected rooms.
These injections helped restore direct contact between the slab and the stabilized soil beneath it.
In some areas, the injections also had the potential to provide slight lifting of the slab, which could reduce the amount of self-leveling mortar needed during flooring installation.
After the polyurethane injections were completed, the foundation system was significantly more stable. The soil beneath the home was densified, and voids were filled, restoring the structural support needed for the slab.
The homeowner can now complete the interior renovations with confidence, knowing the underlying foundation has been professionally stabilized.
