Helical Piers: Go Mobile Flooring, Tampa, FL

by | Aug 24, 2020

The project is a commercial retail building. The Geotechnical Engineer of Record recommended a deep foundation solution of helical piers to improve prove the load bearing capacity of the existing soils at the site.

Challenge

• Sandy/Silty soil conditions

Solution

Helicon worked alongside the geotechnical design team to develop a helical pier program designed to meet the building code load criteria. Helical Piers were installed to allow the General Contractor to utilize standard shallow footing construction, saving considerable time and cost. Helical piles require zero time after installation to load vs Auger Cast Piles, Micro Piles and they are more economical. Efficient planning & coordination was key to overcoming the challenges & limitations. Helicon collaborated with the Geotechnical Engineer of Record throughout the work and confirmed all recommended criteria were followed.  Image
